“Manhattan” by Joey Jay
(Special thanks to Amy Winehouse)
by Sean Holloway
They tried to make me go to Manhattan, I said no, no, no
Yes we've been bad but when we come back, I’ll throw a no-no-no
I ain't got the time
And if my GM thinks I’m fine
They tried to make me go to New York I won’t go, go, go
I’d rather be at home with Mr. Ramos
I ain’t got seventy
double
plays
Cos there’s nothing, there's nothing you can teach me
That I can’t learn from Mr Wilhem anyway
Didn’t get a lot in class
But I know it don’t come in a shot glass
They tried to make me go to Manhattan, I said no, no, no
Yes we've been bad but when we come back, I’ll throw a no-no-no
I ain't got the time
And if my GM thinks I’m fine
They tried to make me go to New York I won’t go, go, go
Glen Reed said "why do you think you here?"
I said "I got no idea"
I’m gonna, I'm gonna lose my great ERA
So I always keep Tex Clevenger near
I said "I just think I’m depressed"
Renew me now, GM, and I’ll take a long rest
They tried to make me go to LA I said no, no, no
Yes we’ve been bad when we come back, I’ll throw a no-no-no
I don’t ever want to pitch again
I just, ooh just need a friend
I’m not gonna spend ten weeks on the DL
Have everyone think I’m on the mend
it’s not just my pride
It’s just till my baseball glove has dried
They tried to make me go to LA, I said no, no, no
Yes we've been bad but when we come back, I’ll throw a no-no-no
I ain't got the time
And if my GM thinks I’m fine
They tried to make me go to New York I won’t go, go, go
